No, I am not going through drug rehab (however, I am still writing a paper on marijuana..), this is a different kind of withdrawl. I've become addicted to people, and no I am not a cannibal. Saturday was move out day here at the Riv. I had two roommates move out and go home. Beccara only went home to Lindon, but V went clear back to SoCA. It's super lonely with only three of us living in this space made for six, especially when there are usually at least 8 of us. All of 124 moved out too. Here is a dedicated post to my roomies and adopted roomies.
Becca [Beccara Bod]: You know those girls that are just perfect? They are blond, go running everyday and keep up on their schooling? They are nice to everyone, they have a sweet, honest, and Christ-like glow about them? Yeah. That would be Becca. It's funny though, good ol' Becca was probably one of the most rebellious one of us. I feel bad for the people that never got to see that side of her. She is such a jokester and teaser. I don't think I ever went more than 30min of being in the same room with her without being teased in some way (or judged... haha). We had a good time teasing each other. She is the only one of my roommates that actually did an April Fools joke... and it was done on me. She put maccaroni in my Peanut Butter. I'll miss her giggle. She giggled at EVERYTHING.
Olivia [V]: The Californian. What a cool duck. She was part of Club Style at BYU and knew how to break it down. Also, she is musically intune. Sometimes I would come in the front door and she would be strumming away on her uke or guitar and be singing some song she wrote. Jealous. Sometimes we had pillow fights and would wrestle. She's the one that makes me not completely give up in school. I thought my semester was rough, but then I would hear what her week was going to be like, whew, it was rough. "28 hours and 39 minutes since I last slept! This is my new record... which I hope to never beat. Nap time!....zzzz." This was taken from a facebook status up-date. Want to know the reason she was up that late? She was doing homework and studying. Dedication, thats what that is. I figure if she can do that, I can most definitely finish up this semester without completely dying. We are kindred spirits in the fact that we are both white, I feel she understands me in that way. Nobody understands a white unless you are white. We are both running away to Europe, we are going to go backpacking and live there. Also, we are going to marry lifeguards and live on the beach in a lifeguard shack.
Erin [Ern]: I like... boys. <-that equals Erin and everything she believes in. HA! Actually she is more than that, but mostly everything revolves around boys, marriage, and having babies. It's great. She was the first one that I actually hung out with. We crashed BYU's freshman orientation activities. She is a major Cougar fan even though she is a Wolverine. She knows who she is and she is strong in all her opinions. She knows how to have a good time, and is always looking for a good time. Good thing she is staying in 115 for the Spring, I would die from boredom. Also, she is going to accompany me on a trip to CA.
Kelda [It's like Zelda with a K]: Mama Kelda. She moved in late and became my mate (rhyming was unintentional). You know it's going to be a good year when your roommate is planning on going to culinary school. Hello wedding cake mess-ups. All those mess-ups/practice cakes were my meals. Because Kelda is older than the rest of us in this apartment, and has experienced more than all of us, we call her Mama Kelda.
*Girls of 97, they are pretty much the girls of 115. They are our adoptive sisters.
Alissa: She's V's sister and is graduated now. Way to go. She is like a mom. She's going to be an awesome mom one day. She can cut hair, cook food, make flower arrangements etc. Sometimes she would sit with me on our porch and we would soak up the sun.
Stephanie: Right? It got to point that it was weird not having her at our apartment. She would come over to calm down and de-stress. She was my comfort, especially during Thanksgiving break. That definitely sealed the deal of being friends. Now she is actually living at my apartment... at least until she goes home because right now she is homeless.
*The boys of 124. I was at their apartment more than I was at my own. I often slept and studied there. One time they threatened to have me pay for utilities to make up for the amount of time I was over there. Now they are all gone and spreading their wings to different places.
Alvin: He's engaged. We never saw him. Although, I highly enjoyed playing volleyball with him. I, on occasion, would coach him and now he is a mad volleyball player, it's sick.
Andrew: I was mean to him. Yep, I was. But not on a serious note. One time a threw a volleyball at his face when he said that Oprah was the anti-Christ. No, I did not throw it at him because he said that, it just happened at the same time coincidentally. Often he would tell me about politics and all that boring stuff, but he is determined to be the next govenor/president. The laugh he gets when he makes a joke is one of the creepiest I have ever heard, but it's hilarious and I loved it when he would do the psycho laugh. Never let him be a DJ. He played songs that represented planets for Josh and I one day. Great.
Brock: Want to cuddle? No? Too bad, Brock does. He is in Texas right now, but before he left, no one could make you feel more loved. When I would walk in he would yell for me and give me a giant hug often resulting in him falling on me on the lovesac or couch. Practically every song reminds me of him. He listens to his music loud and sings at the top of his lungs and dances. He's not afraid to speak his mind. It's hilarious. I didn't know what to think about him when we first met, but now I would consider him one of my dearest friends.
Jordan: They call him Baby J. He's in Germany serving the Lord right now. When I first met him we sat in a corner and played slap jack. At first I thought he was one of those guys that was too good for anyone, most of all me. Good looking, athletic, fun, etc. Obviously too good right? Wrong. He was so easy to be friends with and everyone adored him. Half way through the semester he gave me a ride to school every morning in his jeep. Also, he introduced me to donating plasma. Hello income. We played ping pong a lot and he may or may not have been better than me. He also taught me how to play SPRUT and pool. Indiana Jones rides in his jeep will be among my favorite memories. I got my first out-of-country letter from him.
Josh: He has saved me. I would not have survived this semester without him. You might think I am being a little over dramatic, and I might be, but not really. I went from seeing him maybe a total of 7 times Fall semester to seeing him more than my own roommates (even the one that I share a room with) Spring semester. He almost knows me better than anyone else. He has seen my angry side, my stressed side, my happy side, my sad side, thats a lot of sides that not very many people have seen. Good thing he has put up with me. He knows how to make me laugh, mostly it's because his laugh is so great. He's the one that made me a Jazz fan. Late night lab studies has made him one of my good buddies. You know you are friends when you can discuss and study the male and female reproductive systems. Also, I like anyone that likes Bear Lake and come to find out he enjoys it just as much as me. He's going to be heading to the U in the Fall, and leaving me behind.
Preston [P]: Quote a movie, any movie. I feel like P knows more random facts from Wikipedia than anyone else. He taught me how to solve the Rubicks Cube, play Texas Hold 'em, and longboard. He's going to London this summer, him and like 50 girls. Party on P. He understands people. When he puts his sarcasm away, he can be incredibly understanding and encouraging. I loved just to chill with him. Just sit on his couch and chat, nothing extravagant, just a nice chill chat. He is one of the easiest people to talk to and it's easy to be comfortable around him. Sometimes he sleeps at my apartment when he is homeless. He has a way of wording things, it's impressive how funny he can make things.
For these boys, I am going to be like an annoying little sister. I don't think I will every be able to let them go.
