The definition of laughing
1. Make the spontaneous sounds and movements of the face and body that are the instinctive expressions of lively amusement and sometimes also of contempt or derision.
Laughing, what a strange thing. Think about it. It's weird.
The ability to laugh, what a blessing. Sometimes I'll go a couple of days without laughing and when I finally do, it makes me almost sad that I missed out on such a feeling for those few days.
Laughing is one of the first things we do. Is it even a taught? Or is it just a natural instinct? It's one of the few things that never fails us. Eye sight: eventually it goes. Hearing: it goes too. The ability to walk and move around: that goes too soon. Laughter: I don't think it ever leaves. I'd like to leave this earth laughing, and not by suffocating. How fantastic would that be?
Hallelujah for the funny people in the world, especially the ones in my life.
Isn't it funny how you can think back to a funny experience and it still makes you laugh. It happens to me ALL the time, it drives my roommates nuts.
Health benefits anyone? Laughing has a few. I think the good Lord created laughing for those of us too lazy to get up and go for a daily run around the block. But, it seems that laughing has some of the same benefits:
- Mental Well-being. Laughter releases endorphins, meaning it’s physically impossible for your brain to create feelings of anxiousness, anger or sadness when you’re laughing.
- Reduced Tension. Laughter relaxes your entire body, relieving tension and stress and relaxing your muscles for up to 45 minutes.
- A Healthy Heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels, which helps protect against heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems. *Special bonus fact: even fake laughter is good for you. Fake laughter gives you 80 per cent of the positive health benefits of real laughter.
People don't laugh enough. Some people are just too serious. Lighten up please.
Here is my favorite joke [well, one of them at least]:
What is a pirates worst nightmare on a date?....
- A sunken chest with no booty.
[insert laughter]
